How did it start?
It all began with the sensitivity, wisdom, and dedication of three extraordinary women: Anna Ścieżka – Miksik – Deputy Director of the Social Services Center in Łaziska Górne, Katarzyna Syryjczyk-Słomska – Director of the Municipal Public Library, and Junior Aspirant Ewa Sikora – Press Officer for the Mikołów County Police Headquarters. They invited the ULICA Foundation for Children, represented by its president Adrian Kowalski and trainer Agata Gemser-Wrębiak, who then convinced the youth living in Łaziska Górne to join the project.
What the youth have achieved
The youth created the ONLY PEACE Manifesto, in which they clearly point to PEACE as the highest value, one that defines who we are and who we are becoming. By encouraging their peers, as well as adults, to fight for PEACE together in the Ambassadors of Peace Letter, they show how we can do this every day, remembering that PEACE IS A MISSION FOR US ALL

Who are the Ambassadors of Peace?
Ambassadors of Peace are youth leaders committed to working for peace and reconciliation. The community's goal is to promote the value of peace among young people and encourage active engagement in this cause. Ambassadors of Peace work to build intergenerational understanding by drawing on the experiences of seniors who have lived through wars and conflicts.
Their message is clear: peace is a shared mission that must be nurtured and developed.
Is what we feel ours alone?
After writing their letter, the young Ambassadors of Peace faced one more question. Is what they feel and think theirs alone, or is PEACE a value that connects not just individuals, but entire generations? This was a question they could only ask THEM – the Seniors, who themselves, as children and teenagers, lived through the horrors of World War II in 1939 and martial law in 1981, and who now, with the war in Ukraine ongoing, are once again confronting their own nightmares.
What did the seniors say?
After listening to the manifesto and the letter, the seniors responded that they could only react in one way – YES, ABSOLUTELY YES! The thoughts, ideas, and hopes contained in both messages became a space for mutual understanding, getting to know one another, and the conviction that PEACE unites us, and that we must and want to cherish it like the most precious treasure.

The youth shared their ideas for fighting for peace during the Youth Congress: For World Peace, organized on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. The special guest of the congress was SWPS University professor Adam Bodnar, the 7th Commissioner for Human Rights.
The event was attended by students from Łaziska primary and secondary schools, Mayor Aleksander Wyra, the Plenipotentiary for Human Rights Protection of the Provincial Police Commander in Katowice, Junior Inspector Krzysztof Kazek, representatives of the Mikołów County Police Headquarters, the local police station, the Community Services Center, as well as principals of schools located in our city, ensuring the message was shared with the world.
