SKILLFUL FAMILY PROGRAM CONCEPT
The program promotes the family as a system based on partnership, mutual respect, and shared responsibility for the development and well-being of children. We believe that every family possesses the resources and skills to effectively overcome challenges and build healthy relationships.
PROGRAM FOUNDATION
Our program is based on Dr. Furman's proven methods: Kids’ Skills, designed for individual work with a child and their parents; Skillful Group, which enables support for the entire family; and the Collaborative Parenting Approach, a method that encourages parents/caregivers to establish cooperation for the benefit of the child.

The Foundation launched the pilot program during the unique Solution-Focused Parenting conference, which took place on October 21, 2025, at the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
The Foundation invited sixteen entities to co-create a systemic work model for families, including foster families, based on a solution-focused approach.

SKILLFUL FAMILY Structure
The Skillful Family program supports organizations in implementing an approach based on resources, relationships, and strengthening the skills of children, parents, and professionals working with families. Its goal is to build a culture of cooperation with families, enhance parenting competencies, and create a common language of skills among children, parents, and professionals.
SKILLFUL FAMILY – supporting children by bridging the worlds of school and family
Participation in the program is voluntary. The proposed implementation path serves as a framework that is flexibly adapted to the specific nature, needs, and resources of each institution.
The process of implementing the program in individual institutions – such as Social Welfare Centers (MOPS), Community Support Centers (CUS), or Family Support Centers (PCPR) – can take various forms and follow different timelines, depending on the local context and the target group.
“I AM PROUD OF YOU!” – training for parents
Biological parents and foster families receiving support from the center can take part in the dedicated “I Am Proud of You!” training.
This training equips parents with practical tools and skills to: strengthen their relationship with their child, support them in the process of learning a chosen skill, and build an atmosphere of trust, appreciation, and cooperation within the family.
In the spirit of cooperation and the Collaborative Approach, we bridge the worlds of school and family to effectively support the development of every child.

The process begins with an organizational decision and commitment – the director participates in Kids’ Skills training, and the organization adopts the Kids’ Skills and Skillful Group approach as the foundation for working with families.
Next, key professionals (including psychologists, coordinators, professional foster parents, social workers, and assistants) participate in certified Kids’ Skills and/or Skillful Group training, gaining the competencies to work in a skill-focused manner.
The organization begins working with families using the Skillful Family method, utilizing Kids’ Skills for work with children, elements of Skillful Group for work with parents, and collaborative goal-setting to strengthen family skills.
In parallel, a culture of noticing progress, resources, and the efforts of children, parents, and the team of professionals is implemented.
A key element of the program is systemic support, which includes regular supervision for professionals and consultations for families, ensuring the quality, consistency, and safety of interventions while strengthening the competencies of all participants in the process.
Organizations that meet the program criteria receive the SKILLFUL FAMILY Certificate, confirming their work within a strengths-based, relational, and skill-focused approach.
